Silenced No More Foundation Founder Stephanie Van de Motter Joins the Whistleblower of the Week Podcast for Part II of an Exclusive Interview with Jane Turner

Los Angeles, Calif. (April 11, 2022) –Silenced No More Foundation Founder Stephanie Van de Motter talks with Jane Turner about her experience as The Irvine Company whistleblower on the second installment of a two part exclusive interview on the Whistleblower News Network’s “Whistleblower of the Week” podcast. Turner, a Federal Bureau of Investigation Whistleblower, speaks biweekly with other fellow whistleblowers to discuss their decisions to speak truth to power and the repercussions that follow.

In this episode, Van de Motter talks about being constructively discharged from her job, the lengthy arbitration process that ensued, gender issues, and her ongoing fight to collect from The Irvine Company on money that was awarded to her by court. Van de Motter also touches on her transition from being a whistleblower to becoming a whistleblower advocate. She discusses the Silenced No More Foundation, a new peer-to-peer support group she founded as part of her mission to change the landscape for the next generation of whistleblowers.

In the first episode, which aired on April 6th, Van de Motter described what it was like to lose her dream job as property manager at 1221 Ocean Avenue, a star-studded luxury building in Santa Monica. She explained the problems that arose after she reported systemic mold and water intrusion on the property that placed the health of the residents at risk. That was when her employer, The Irvine Company (TIC) – one of the most powerful real estate companies in the country owned by America's richest real estate baron, Donald Bren, retaliated against Van de Motter for sounding the alarm.

The full interview is now available in the form of two hour-long installments. About Stephanie Van de Motter

Stephanie Van de Motter is the first person to have ever won a whistleblower retaliation and harassment lawsuit against The Irvine Company, the largest landowner in California owned by America's richest real estate baron Donald Bren. For years she managed their star-studded flagship property at 1221 Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. When she reported numerous building and fire safety code violations that endangered residents’ lives, the company retaliated against her. Van de Motter lost her job, her career, and her peace of mind. Van de Motter is still attempting to collect the compensation awarded to her by court in 2020, but Irvine Company has blocked all her efforts. In 2021, Van de Motter launched the Silenced No More Foundation, a peer-to-peer online support network for employee whistleblowers and victims of workplace harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
