How to Brainwash a Nation, Sigmund Freuds Nephew, Helps to Control the American Public

How to Brainwash a Nation, Sigmund Freud Style.

From Episode Two of the film series “The Century of the Self” by Adam Curtis. The nephew of Sigmund Freud, Edward Bernays started his business life as a publicist. While still in his twenties, he was part of the propaganda effort that drove the United States into in World War I (WW I.)

He personally advised several US presidents starting with Woodrow Wilson and counseled numerous corporations and business associations. Hitler’s propaganda chief and Nazi henchman Joseph Goebbels was a reader and fan of Bernay’s writing in particular Bernay’s book “Crystalizing Public Opinion.”

In this short excerpt from Curtis’s film we see one example of Bernays at work.

Bernays was one of the engineers of the Cold War. He perfected the technique of manufacturing a distant but ever-threatening enemy and then creating a constant state of fear by generating false news reports that endlessly re-stated and exagerated the threat. Sounds like todays “War” on Terror.

The stated purpose of Bernay’s methods was to give those in power greater control over what he called “the mass mind.” It worked well in the 1950s and sadly, it appears to be working quite well today… but maybe not forever.

Eminem “Mosh” Music Video & Lyrics

Eminem “Mosh”

“Mosh” is a protest song by Eminem and Guerrilla News Network, released on October 26, 2004 as a digital single, just prior to the 2004 presidential election.

The video for the song is available free on the Internet and encouraged voters to vote George W. Bush out of office. The song was excerpted from Eminem’s album, Encore, not yet released at the time the video was made available to the public. G-Unit rapper Lloyd Banks also appears in the video.

The goal of increasing the percentage young voter turnout was not reached. While more young people showed up to vote in the 2004 election than in 2000, their percentage of the overall vote remained the same (17%) due to an increase in voters of all ages. Eminem later told an Irish paper that he wished he had released the video earlier because he felt that perhaps it would have inspired more young people to vote.

This song is ranked 58th on About.com’s “100 Greatest Rap Songs”

The music video for “Mosh” is entirely cartooned. It features a school in the beginning saying the Pledge of Allegience, then to reveal Eminem performing in Iraq for U.S. troops where a large crowd is gathered, one of which returns home later to his wife and children only to find he has been sent back to Iraq because of George W. Bush’s strategy to send more troops to Iraq during his time in office. It also shows a young African American man who sees the Ku Klux Klan movements on his TV. He then joins an army of protesters, led by Eminem. By the end of the video, Eminem and the protesters are shouting at George Bush.

A second version of the videoclip was released after the 2004 presidential election, where the crowd is not bursting in to register to vote but rather entering the United States Capitol during Bush’s State of the Union Address. In this version, they then proceed to make their demands heard by the U.S. Supreme Court and Congress. It shows then-Vice-President Dick Cheney suffering a heart attack.

This has got to be the best and most meaningful song by Eminem. It represents the message of Silenced No More.

Enjoy Eminem’s song on free speech, the War in Iraq which is really as he puts it, “Blood for Oil” and government corruption.

People, it feels so good to be back
Mosh with me now

You scrutinize every word, memorize every line
I spit it once, refuel, re-energize and rewind
I give sight to the blind, my insight through the mind
I exercise my right to express when I feel it’s time
It’s just all in your mind, what you interpret it as
I say to fight, you take it as I’ma whip someone?s ass
If you don?t understand, don?t even bother to ask
A father who has grown up with a father-less past

Who has blown up now to rap phenomenon that has
Or at least shows no difficulty multi-taskin’ and jugglin’ both
Perhaps mastered his craft slash entrepreneur
Who has helped launch a few more rap acts
Who?s had a few obstacles thrown his way through the last half
Of his career, typical manure
Movin’ past that Mr. ‘Kiss his ass crack’
He?s a class act, rubber band man yeah, he just snaps back

Come along, follow me, as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength
Come with me and I wont steer you wrong
Put your faith in your trust, as I guide us through the fog
To the light at the end of the tunnel we gon? fight
We gon? charge, we gon? stomp, we gon? march through the swamp
We gon? mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors
Come on

All the people up top, on the side and the middle
Come together, let’s all form this stomp just a little
Just let it gradually build from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people, some white and some black
No matter what color, all that matters we’re gathered together
To celebrate for the same ’cause no matter the weather

If it rains, let it rain, yeah, the wetter, the better
They ain?t gon? stop us, they can’t, we’re stronger now, more then ever
They tell us, “No”, we say, “Yeah”, they tell us, “Stop”, we say, “Go”
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell, we gon? let em know
Stomp, push, shove, mush, fuck Bush
Until they bring our troops home, c’mon, just

Come along, follow me, as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength
Come with me and I wont steer you wrong
(From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/e/eminem-lyrics/mosh-lyrics.html)
Put your faith in your trust, as I guide us through the fog
To the light at the end of the tunnel we gon? fight
We gon? charge, we gon? stomp, we gon? march through the swamp
We gon? mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors
Come on

Imagine it pourin?, it’s rainin? down on us
Mosh pits outside the oval office
Someone?s tryin’ to tell us somethin’
Maybe this is God, just sayin’ we’re responsible
For this monster, this coward that we have empowered
This is Bin Laden, look at his head noddin?
How could we allow somethin’ like this
Without pumpin’ our fists, now this is our final hour

Let me be the voice, and your strength and your choice
Let me simplify the rhyme just to amplify the noise
Try to amplify it, times it and multiply it by sixteen million
People are equal at this high pitch
Maybe we can reach Al Qaeda through my speech
Let the President answer a high anarchy
Strap him with a AK 47, let him go fight his own war
Let him impress Daddy that way

No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our own soil
No more psychological warfare to trick us to thinkin’ that we ain?t loyal
If we don?t serve our own country, we?re patronizin’ a hero
Look in his eyes, its all lies the stars and stripes have been swiped Washed out and wiped and replaced with his own face
Mosh now or die, if I get sniped tonight
You?ll know why, ?cuz I told you to fight

Come along, follow me, as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength
Come with me and I wont steer you wrong
Put your faith in your trust, as I guide us through the fog
To the light at the end of the tunnel we gon? fight
We gon? charge, we gon? stomp, we gon? march through the swamp
We gon? mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors
Come on

And as we proceed to mosh through this desert storm
In these closing statements, if they should argue
Let us beg to differ as we set aside our differences
And assemble our own army to disarm this weapon
Of mass destruction that we call our President
For the present and mosh for the future of our next generation
To speak and be heard, Mr. President, Mr. Senator

What is Silenced No More About? And What Does This Have to do with Corporate Censorship of Music?

silenced no more, censorship, silencing free speech picture
Silenced no more is for musicians who have been told that they are too positive or too controversial to be played on radio by major record companies, which then censor the artists music by telling them that only songs about drinking and partying, or being a “Gansta” “sell”. However with every song on the radio being about partying or being a “Gansta” and often a combination of them, one can see this is not true, as records sales are going down with record companies closing, look at what happened to Capital Records. If that was what “sold” then record sales would be going up.

The truth is that record companies have been purchases by other larger corporations who see music a means to sell their other products like alcohol.

When are artists wants to sing about something else then he is censored and either not signed or given radio play. You have probably heard of video game censorship, but what about the censorship of the media and music? Of course you wold not hear of it as the only sorce to here of it from would be the media that is censoring information. With all major media in the U.S. being owned by 6 corporations this is not hard (by gomez). These same corporations are working hard to censor the internet too.

We don’t have to let soulless corporations control what we as a culture artistically produce. We will fight for our right to free speech and a free press. We will fight censorship. We will be silenced no more.

This site is for you and all those that still believe in the constitution of
the united states and FREEDOM.

This site is for musicians who want to make a difference and will be silenced no more.

Here are some examples of censorship-articles.

We will be Silenced No More

We will be silenced no more by Corporate shackles censoring what our artists say limiting their free speech, they are one of our most valuable assets.

Today all media is owned by corporations who only care about one thing, making money, not informing people. In fact they will show you the latest gossip rather than what is happening with your government, because the gossip sells more. This is harming society, not helping it in anyway. All news comes from one source, the Associated Press, if you think you are hearing anything close to the whole picture on your nightly news program you are sadly mistaken. If there is something the corporate bigwigs don’t like they will silence it, that is censorship.

Corporate Controlled Music

Photo illustrating the corporate control of the media which silences free speech. We will be silenced no more.Did you ever wonder why every new song on the radio is about drinking and partying, and they keep mentioning liquor brand names, like an ad? What if I told you that the liquor companies own some the the music companies? What if I told you the record companies are rewriting musician’s songs to talk about just that so they can sell liquor?

Did you ever wonder why every rap song on the radio is about drugs, drinking and sex? What if I told you that the record companies won’t even sign a rapper if he does not rap about these topics, and if somehow one gets in, they will tell the radio stations not to play the artist. Since all the radio stations in the U.S. are owned by a few corporations this is pretty easy.

What if all the the music companies where paying the radio stations to play what the radio stations play and the stations refused to play any other music than what the record companies said, making it impossible for an independent musician to make it big? Well that is exactly what is happening.

Kids doing drugs

Does this sound like free speech or censorship?

Is this really helping society?

Don’t you think that this message constantly played to kids might influence how they act? Haven’t things been getting worse since artists lost their freedom of expression? No more songs about hope or changing the world and making it a better place. Only songs about “Shots”, “Patron” or “Ass”.

So what do we do?

This site is for musicians who have been told that they are too positive or too controversial to be played on the radio, or who have just been straight up F’ed over by the record companies, shelved and left out to dry.

This site is for musicians who want to make a difference with their music. Let us know if you want your voice to be heard. This site gives musicians a chance to network and hold concerts with like minded individuals. This site is free speech. We will be silent no more.
